Couple of things to tell you all about.
The first is that the date for the northern launch of The Puppet Show has now been confirmed. It’s taking place on Sunday 10th June at 2:30pm at the Old Fire Station Arts Centre, Carlisle. This is a free event and there is no need to book. Just turn up, have a drink and laugh. Food will be available at the OFS beforehand and a full bar will be running throughout the event.
I’m also hugely honoured to announce that the phenomenally talented AA Dhand, author of the best-selling Streets of Darkness and Girl Zero, will be interviewing me. I’ve known him long enough to know he won’t pull his punches . . .
Bookends will be doing the pop-up shop so first edition, first printing editions of The Puppet Show will be available to buy should you so wish. If you are unable to make it on Sunday then they will be taking signature orders. Email them for details. Also, as he did last year, Brian Tyson will be selling his bespoke, hand-turned pens (fountain and ball). These really are beautiful and I know a lot of you plan to purchase from him again this year.
Anyway, I hope to see as many of you there as possible. Further details can be found here.
The second big thing, and something I’ve been sitting on for a while, is that The Puppet Show has been selected as June’s Book of the Month at Goldsboro Books. This is a huge honour, an absolute privilege, and I’m thrilled. Goldsboro Books is a world-famous and much admired bookshop in Covent Garden, home to the world’s largest signed first edition club and, for many internationally famous authors, it’s the only place they will sign books. At any one time they have 25,000 signed first editions in stock . . . To celebrate this Little, Brown are printing 750 special editions, exclusive to Goldsboro. These books will have an additional page and will be signed and numbered, UK first editions, first printings.
If you fancy a special edition of The Puppet Show then you can order them here. I understand that you will be able to choose the number. But . . . I’m grabbing number one so don’t bother asking.
And finally you might have noticed my new website. It has some new features and some have been discarded. Book reviews and the blog have merged and there’s now an up to date events page.
Have a look. If you haven’t signed up for the newsletter then please do.
